Ground was broken for JAPFA Comfeed’s high-tech pork farm in Binh Phuoc this week.

JAPFA Comfeed VietNam Company, Ltd (JAPFA) this week broke ground for a high – tech pork farm in Long Ha Commune in Phu Rieng District in the southern province of Binh Phuoc.

To cost nearly VND500 billion, the farm, to be built on an area of nearly 40 hectares, will supply to the market more than 130,000 pigs, equivalent to more than 140,000 tonnes of pork, annually.

It aims to provide clean and safe meat to consumers and to stabilise supply.

It will create jobs and provide training to local human resources and experience in operating modern technological systems.

Francisco Domingues, head of swine operations, JAPFA Comfeed Vietnam, said: “In the current epidemic situation, bio-security is one of the key points to ensure supply to the market.

“Therefore, JAPFA not only invests in facilities in the barn but also promotes the application of technology and closed management processes. This not only saves costs, but also helps establish biohediling mechanisms while improving resistance for livestock, thereby effectively preventing infectious diseases and ensuring supply of high – quality meat to the market.”

To enhance performance, the farm is being built using fully automatic technologies, which will make it easy to clean, saving maintenance costs.

It will be eco-friendly thanks to a wastewater treatment system that will be built to stringent standards.

"In future, we will continue to develop the business by building new farms," Francisco said.

“We are now looking for suitable locations to ensure a safe distance from surrounding areas.”

In 1995 JAPFA came to Viet Nam a joint venture with the Vietnam Livestock Corporation.

In 1999 it became 100 per cent foreign-owned under the name Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Company Ltd with its headquarters in Huong Canh town, Binh Xuyen District, Vinh Phuc Province.

It has six factories (Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh, Thai Binh, Binh Dinh, Binh Thuan, and Long An) and more than 300 farms providing high-quality pigs, poultry and commercial products.

With more than 4,000 highly skilled employees, JAPFA is gradually expanding its business, contributing to the development of the livestock industry in Viet Nam. — VNS
