HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Supermarket chain Big C has renewed its agreements with RMIT University Việt Nam and the Asian Institute of Technology in Viet Nam (AIT-VN) for offering 12-month certificate courses in retail management that began on October 31.
From more than 2,000 applicants, 18 trainees were selected for AIT-VN's Future Managers programme and 17 for RMIT's Future Senior Manager programme.
The courses combine academic and on-the-job training by the supermarket's senior executives and experienced lecturers from RMIT and AIT-VN.
The trainees get a full scholarship, a monthly allowance, lunch and transport subsidies, accommodation for those coming from outside HCM City, health and accident insurance, and other benefits.
Also on October 31, Big C issued certificates to 31 people graduating from last year's programmes.
Duong Thanh Son, director of Big C Academy, said the retail industry has developed strongly in recent years, leading to high demand for human resources, especially in management positions, but there are no schools providing training in this field. — VNS
