The Ascott Limited (Ascott), a lodging business unit wholly owned by CapitaLand Investment (CLI), has announced the appointment of industry veterans David Cumming to lead fast-growing markets within the group’s Southeast Asia portfolio.
David Cumming joins as Regional General Manager for Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar. This appointment supports Ascott’s strategic goals to capitalise on the emerging opportunities in the region.

Our Regional General Managers play integral roles in leading our network of operationally-ready teams that go deep in-market across geographies. David brings with them extensive experience with global hotel chains which will further strengthen our capability to grow Ascott’s portfolio of flex-hybrid properties to further us on our continued journey as a global hospitality company.”

As Regional General Manager, Ascott Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar, David will oversee a portfolio of over 40 properties, where more than half are slated to open over the next three years. David joins Ascott with over two decades of global hospitality industry experience across the United Kingdom, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Oman, and most recently Thailand. He has held leadership roles with Onyx Hospitality Group, InterContinental Hotels Group and Accor. Highly skilled in aspects of MICE and F&B operations, pre-openings, development and strategic planning, David’s expertise aligns with Ascott’s growth ambitions as a global hospitality company.
A British national, David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Administration from the Robert Gordon University, United Kingdom. — VNS
