HÀ NỘI — Vietnam Airlines is set to restart its direct flights from Hà Nội to Moscow on May 8, after a three-year hiatus. This move aims to enhance travel convenience and safety for passengers while bolstering bilateral cooperation between Việt Nam and Russia.
Initially, the airline will operate two flights per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays using wide-body Boeing 787 aircraft.
Starting from July 2026, the frequency will increase to three flights per week to accommodate growing passenger demand.
Russia is a significant market for Việt Nam's tourism and trade. In 2024, the expected number of visitors between the two countries is projected to exceed 220,000, reflecting a substantial recovery in travel, although still below 2019 levels.
The resumption of this route is seen as a catalyst for strengthening cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment and cultural exchange.
According to a representative from Vietnam Airlines, this flight route not only enhances operational efficiency but also serves as a vital link in promoting robust tourism and trade relations between Việt Nam and Russia. — VNS
