HCM CITY — KB Securities Company and the Red Cross Society in South Korea and Việt Nam have implemented the 2025 Rainbow project with a total sponsorship of 150 million KRW (US$97,870).
One of KB Securities' annual ESG projects undertaken in Việt Nam since 2020, the Rainbow project used to focus on improving the learning and living environments for children in difficult areas.
This was the first year it helped plant trees to prevent natural disasters and regenerate the environment, and it followed lessons learnt from the great damage caused in northern Việt Nam by typhoon Yagi.
KBS chose Tân Kim Primary School in Phú Bình District, Thái Nguyên Province, as the location to implement the project.
In an effort to enhance the learning environment and “the right to play" for children, KB Securities has helped the school renovate a multi-purpose hall and old classrooms and buy new furniture for teachers and students and information technology equipment such as projectors, computers and televisions.
"Rainbow Forest" attempts to address the dangers of natural disasters brought on by climate change, and so will help plant 200,000 mangrove trees in forests in regions prone to disasters.
Kim Sung-hyun, CEO of KB Securities, said: "We hope the Rainbow project will bring benefits to Vietnamese society, helping the future of preschoolers, preventing natural disasters, and protecting the environment."
KBS would continue to support education and implementing its social responsibility based on the core values of the business, he promised. — VNS
