HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Individuals and teams comprising three to five members each will take part in the global Hackathon Code for Resilience from May 9 to 11 in Ha Noi.

They will work on a proposed software project in 48 coding hours, with support from disaster risk management experts and mentors.

This event is expected to bring together the best computer programmers and active volunteers working on environmental issues and top global experts in disaster risk management. It aims at creating cutting-edge viable solutions to address the challenges related to natural disasters via innovative hardware and software programmes.

The global Hackathon Code for Resilience event is being launched by the World Bank and the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), in cooperation with HATCH! PROGRAM, a start-up incubator in Vietnam. The event is also organised in nine other Asian cities.

The top three outstanding solutions will be submitted to the International Code for Resilience Online Innovation Challenge assessment board. The innovators will get an opportunity to win an all-expenses paid trip to the July 2014 Understanding Risk Conference in London. — VNS
