2016 Sao Khue Awards presented for IT products and services

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Viet Nam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) presented the Sao Khue Awards to 73 information and technology (IT) software products and services in a ceremony in Ha Noi late last week.

The awarded products and services were all of excellent quality, and innovative in their effective solutions for users.

This year is the first year that the Top 10 Sao Khue have been awarded to the most excellent products and services in terms of revenue, market share, customers and socio-economic efficiency. Six IT products and four services were awarded the Top 10 Sao Khue.

According to the jury board, the change will help to confirm the brand and reputation of Vietnamese IT software products and services, thereby developing the domestic market and preparing for international integration.

Reportedly, the top 10 products and services had a total revenue of US$240 million in 2015, equivalent to 17 per cent of the total revenue of the country's software and IT services.

Of these, the four services that were in the top 10 earned a total revenue of more than VND5 trillion (US$224 million) and created 11,000 jobs.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan asked IT enterprises, especially the honoured enterprises, to promote their advantages, research, and development, as well as introducing their high-quality products to the market.

The minister also asked enterprises to boost start-up applications and start-up movements towards the Internet of Things (IoT).

Enterprises were also asked to develop friendly applications which connect sectors such as education and health through the telecommunications infrastructure, cooperating with the media to achieve a national criteria of studying, creativity and start-up socialisation.

The minister also expressed the hope that VINASA will continue to develop its role as a bridge between the government and the IT business community. — VNS
