HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Samsung Vina's new CEO Kim Cheol Gi has taken the reins at the global tech giant, replacing old CEO Cho Seok Hee.

Kim, 45, was a business director at Samsung Mobile in Malaysia before moving to Viet Nam. He brings 18 years of experience in research and development, sales and marketing in Asian markets.

Other noteworthy appointments included new Director of Marketing, Phan Minh Tien, formerly head of marketing at Unilever. In his previous role, Tien was responsible for managing and developing brands such as Omo washing powder, Lipton tea and Wall's ice-cream.

Robert Vu has been named as the next deputy general director of electronic appliances and Nguyen Quang Hien Huy will head the mobile phone division as national business director.

Samsung Viet Nam opened its first factory in 1996 with support from Vietnamese company T.I.E. The collaborative venture began with a chartered capital of US$17.46 million.

As of July this year, Samsung is now a completely foreign invested company after purchasing T.I.E's stake for a report VND96 billion ($4.5 million). Samsung Vina will now focus it's production on manufacturing TVs and computer screens. — VNS
