HA NOI (Biz Hub)— The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has approved a sum of US$288,000 in non-refundable official development assistance (ODA) to fund wind power projects in Viet Nam.
The technical assistance project will run until August 2014 and will evaluate the effect of integrating wind power into the national electricity grid.
The project will define the scale of the impact and provide recommendations for appropriate regulation. It also aims to review the management of the electricity market to ensure a sustainable power supply.
According to the Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN), Viet Nam has only two wind power plants with a total capacity of 60MW in central coastal Binh Thuan and southern Bac Lieu provinces. These facilities are already connected to the national grid.—VNS
