HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Vietnam National Petroleum Group on June 25 announced that it will begin selling biofuel E5 RON 92 in the central province of Quang Ngai from September 1 this year.

E5 RON 92, which has unleaded gasoline and 4 per cent to 5 per cent ethanol, will replace the traditional Mogas 92. Therefore, all petrol stations in Quang Ngai will sell gasoline E5 RON 92 and Mogas RON 95.

Petrolimex Quang Ngai will receive the two kinds of gasoline from the Dung Quat Oil Refinery and then send them to its agents throughout the province.

The implementation of the biofuel regime in Quang Ngai originated in the Government's road map for applying ratios while blending biofuels with traditional fuels. Under this, the E5 biogasoline, which has 5 per cent of ethanol and 95 per cent of gasoline, will be produced, blended and distributed for vehicles in seven provinces and cities, namely Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, Quang Ngai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, from December 1, 2014.
