SOC TRANG (Biz Hub) — The southern province of Soc Trang is calling for wind power developers, from both home and abroad, announced local authorities.
The locality currently has listed 13 wind power plant projects that need investors. It will create three regions for the development until 2020, with a vision for 2030. This master plan was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in May.
The regions comprise different parts of Vinh Chau Town and Tran Đe and Cu Lao Dung districts, where wind speeds reach six to 6.4 metres per second.
Region 1 has an area of 21,900 hectares (ha) and factories that come up here will have a total capacity of 860 megawatt (MW). Region 2 covers 7,500 ha with 315 MW, and Region 3 covers over 7,900 ha with 315 MW.
The total wind power output is expected to reach 470 million Kilo Watt hour (KWh) by 2020. This, it is believed, will help change the local economic structure and ensure the national energy security. — VNS
