HA NOI (Biz Hub) ― Three companies began the construction of the first phase of the wind power plant Cong Hai 1 in the south-central Ninh Thuan Province's Thuan Bac District on May 19.

The firms are the Sai Gon Industry Corporation, the Power Generation Corporation 2 and the HCM City Electric Power Trading Investment Company.

The project has a total investment capital of nearly VND1.2 trillion, or US$57.14 million, and the first phase will cost about VND190 billion, or $9.05 million.

The companies will produce and install three turbines with Russian two-propeller technology and with a capacity of 1MW each. The installation is expected to be completed by the end of this year, and the machines are to be operational by next February.

In the next phase, the investors will build a factory and develop turbines on a large scale with a total capacity of about 37MW. The maximum power can be reached with the wind speed in Viet Nam going up to seven to eight metres per second, they said. ― VNS
