Stocks make modest gains as investors remain cautious

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares posted modest gains this morning, but trading remained sluggish as investors were still cautious about the market outlook.

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index was up 0.3 per cent to stand at 525.62 points, as the gainers outnumbered the losers by 123-77.

The VN30, which tracks the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity, also inched up 0.03 per cent to close at 575.72 points.

The trading volume fell compared with yesterday morning, as just 42 million shares, worth over VND668 billion, or US$31.7 million, changed hands by the end of the morning.

Real estate firm FLC Group (FLC) continued to be the most active stock with the trading of 3.3 million shares at VND8,100 a share, a rise of 2.5 per cent.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index climbed 0.87 per cent to finish at 71.32 points.

The market was fairly positive with 89 shares rising, 65 falling and 221 closing flat.

Nearly 24.4 million shares, worth VND201.5 billion, or $9.5 million, were traded.

PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) was the most active stock, with 3.5 million shares changing hands at VND4,000 a share.
