HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — The HCM City People's Committee plans to build three to eight-floor factory buildings in industrial parks and export processing zones in the 2015-18 period.

The pilot construction project, which will cost VND600 billion (US$28 million), will take place in Dong Nam and Hiep Phuoc industrial parks, Linh Trung and Tan Thuan export processing zones and Sai Gon High-Tech Park.

The buildings, which have a floor area of 10,000-40,000 sq.m each, will house factories covering 100 – 3,000 sq.m each.

The construction of tall buildings to house factories will help the city use land with optimal effectiveness, and meet the diverse demand of investors, according to the People's Committee.

The city will give priority to housing in tall buildings for companies that invest in hi-tech and industrial support sectors, the city's four key industrial sectors, and companies that have to relocate because of urban planning.

Companies that invest in such buildings will receive preferential loans from the stimulus package programme and be given zero-interest loans for up to seven years for the cost of new buildings and other support facilities.

The HCM City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority targets attracting US$700 million of domestic and foreign direct investment in the city's industrial parks and export processing zones this year. — VNS
