The four-month courses were meant to upgrade the trainees' skills amid a growing demand from employers in a diverse range of industries, especially oil.
The welders are now capable of 6G-level jobs, the highest in welding. There is a constant shortage of welders with this skill level in Viet Nam.
The electrical technicians are now capable of maintaining various instruments like temperature, pressure, level, and flow sensors and transmitters.
The other sponsors of the programme, which cost US$50,000, were India's ONGC Videsh Company, who, along with PetroVietnam and Rosneft Vietnam, are the investors of Block 06.1, which consists of the Lan Tay and Lan Do natural gas fields 370km southeast of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau coast. — VNS
