Central Retail Vietnam opened a GO! shopping mall in the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Bạc Liêu on Tuesday, its most modern in the province.
Located in Bạc Liêu City’s Ward 7, the 1.5-hectare mall cost more than VNĐ432 billion (US$17 million), and has shopping, dining, learning, and entertainment businesses among others.
They include a 4,000sq.m GO! Hypermarket.
At its opening ceremony, Phạm Văn Thiều, chairman of the Bạc Liêu Province People's Committee, said traditional markets and stores are well represented locally, but not the premium shopping segment despite the market’s potential and consumer demand.
GO! Bạc Liêu, the largest retail complex in the province, would help increase retail sales and services revenues, create nearly 600 jobs and provide a destination for shopping and leisure, he added.
Olivier Langlet, CEO of Central Retail in Việt Nam, said with GO! Bạc Liêu the group aims to create a holistic one-stop destination experience for residents of Bạc Liêu and other nearby provinces.
To celebrate the opening, Central Retail Vietnam donated nearly VNĐ2.3 billion ($90,749) to the Đông Hải Primary School in the province’s Hòa Bình District to build four new classrooms that will benefit almost 600 students as part of its "One Shopping Mall, One School" programme it has been implementing in recent years. — VNS
