HA NOI (Biz Hub) — American firm General Electric has appointed Vu Thu Trang as General Manager of the US$110 million plant in the northern coastal city of Hai Phong.
Trang will be responsible for site safety, quality, fulfillment of work and the financial performance of the plant, reports GE in a press release on August 6.
Her appointment marks a crucial milestone for GE in Viet Nam, underscoring its commitment to nurture and develop local talent in the country. Trang is also the first woman to run the plant since it began operations in 2008.
In her new role, together with nearly 600 employees, Trang is expected to deliver better products at lower cost and accelerate new product introductions to ensure constant growth and development of the plant.
Trang joined GE in 2008 and has held key positions during the growth of the Hai Phong plant since its inception. She was Senior Programme Manager, leading and coordinating new product introductions at the plant, prior to her latest appointment as General Manager.
She also worked as Programme Manager on a GE site in Hangzhou, China, where she delivered outstanding results on operation planning and process optimisation.
Since 2008, GE has invested more than US$110 million in its Hai Phong manufacturing facility which employs more than 600 engineers and skilled workers. Wind turbine generators and other energy products manufactured in Hai Phong are exported to GE's manufacturing and service centers around the globe.
