HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Wholesalers in HCM City and the southern provinces on Wednesday increased the retail price of gas by VND4,000 (US$0.2) per 12-kilo canister.

As a result, gas retailers are selling each 12-kilo canister at a price of VND 380,000 to VND385,000 ($18.1 to $18.3) in the city and surrounding areas.

Do Trung Thanh, deputy head of the Business Department of Saigon Petro, said the international gas price fell by $15 per tonne in the market, but the premium cost for transport and other services increased, thereby sparking an increase in retail gas prices.

Thanh said retail gas prices per 12-kilo canister fell by VND12,000 ($0.6) in August and VND7,000 ($0.35) in September. No increase has been announced yet for Ha Noi and the northern areas. --VNS
