PETALING JAYA (Biz Hub) — Cutting-edge technologies in control, design, test & measurement and automation are being spotlighted at this year's Graphical System Design (GSD) Summit.

The GSD Summit, organised by National Instruments, a leading tools and technology provider, kicked off on in Malaysia's Petaling Jaya City.

The summit will end in December and take place in 10 cities in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vie^.t Nam.

Conversations in the engineering and scientific world are shifting towards accelerated and applied innovation, according to Chandran Nair, managing director of National Instruments in Southeast Asia.

"Pressure to keep pace with rapidly changing times and solutions for emerging global challenges are driving the need for our flexible and easy-to-use innovation tool," he added.

Nair said that the graphical system design platform can build cyber-physical systems, he said, adding that CPS was the "fourth industrial revolution".

CPS enables the physical world to merge with the virtual leading to an internet of things, data and services, according to European Institute of Innovation and Technology.

Nair cited Vijay Kumar, assistant director for Robiotics and Cyber Physical Systems of Office of Science and Technology Policy at the White House, who has said that CPS would transform entire industrial sectors, including transportation, healthcare, energy, manufacturing and agriculture.

There is an urgent need to develop design methodologies that will provide real-time and guaranteed performance.

In the GSD Summit, National Instruments showcases a suite of new products and solutions that will enable engineers and scientist to fully leverage the benefits of the graphical system design approach. — VNS
