HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Vietnamese shares ended mixed this morning, while energy stocks declined on falling global oil prices.
The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange dropped 0.06 per cent to close at 611.99 points, and the HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange gained 0.02 per cent to close at 81.52 points.
Energy stocks dragged down the market, following the slump in global oil prices last week. The American benchmark crude West Texas Intermediate (WTI) lost five per cent and the Brent crude dropped 4.2 per cent last week.
PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (GAS) dropped 2.1 per cent, PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services Corporation (PVD) fell 0.8 per cent and PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PVS) inched down 0.5 per cent.
On the positive side, real estate developers made gains this morning. Vingroup Joint Stock Company (VIC) inched up 0.2 per cent, Kinh Bac City Development
Share Holding Corporation (KBC) rose 0.7 per cent and FLC Group (FLC) jumped 5.7 per cent.
FLC was also the most active stock this morning, with more than 16 million of its shares being traded.
Both local exchanges traded more than 90 million shares, worth VND1.34 trillion (US$59.5 million). — VNS
