Construction of a theme park and resort complex kicked off in Yen Son District, Tuyen Quang Province on Saturday.
Invested by Vingroup, the complex covers 30ha in the My Lam mineral spring tourism site, local newspaper baotuyenquang.com.vn reported.
The complex, which is slated for completion in 2021, is expected to become a tourist attraction for the province. It also features a golf course and various villas.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Ngoc Thuc pledged that Tuyen Quang would work with the firm to ensure the efficiency of the project, thereby helping provincial development.
The participation of private businesses in tourism development would significantly contribute to boosting the province’s hospitality sector on the country’s tourist map. Local authorities said they had provided businesses with favourable and preferential mechanisms and policies on land lease and administrative procedures in order to encourage their investments in the province.
Among the 15 key investment projects in Tuyen Quang by 2020, there are a number of tourism development projects, including the Song Lo resort project and the Phieng Bung and Nui Dum eco-tourism sites.
The province has also worked to diversify the locality’s tourism products, ranging from ecotourism and community-based tourism to historical and spiritual tourism.
Tuyen Quang welcomed more than one million visitors in the first five months of 2019, up 8.3 per cent year-on-year. Its revenue from tourism services also saw a positive increase of 8.5 per cent to VND923 billion (US$39.6 million) in the period, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. — VNS
