VinSmart, a subsidiary of Vingroup, introduced its Vsmart smartphone in Myanmar on Wednesday as the first step in its aspiration to take the brand to the world.
The products will be distributed through nearly 1,500 stores belonging to Strong Source Company, one of the leading retailers in Myanmar.
It has also tied up with Viettel’s local subsidiary Mytel and Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba’s Shop.com.mm to sell the phones.
Initially, VinSmart will introduce four models: Joy1, Joy1+, Active 1, and Active 1+.
Active 1 is the most high-end model and comes in green, black and pink-yellow.
The smartphones must pass nearly 2,500 standard tests, including hardware, mechanical and software tests, at the BQ laboratory in Spain and Vsmart’s own plant.
Besides, the phones are also tested at the laboratories of US semiconductor giant Qualcomm.
VinSmart has three fully automated production lines, three circuit test lines with measuring devices from Rohde & Schwarz (Germany), Qualcomm software, and six finished product assembly lines.
VinSmart plans to expand its market to India, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia this year. — VNS
