Viettel Networks, a member of Viettel Group, and Pegatron have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation to develop a 5G private network in Viet Nam.
The MoU signed under the Mobile World Congress 2023 which wrapped up in Barcelona, Spain on Thursday. Accordingly, the two sides would co-ordinate to test 5G Private Network service for the entire production line of Pegatron factory in northern Hai Phong port city with a scale of 4,500sq.m.
Twelve applications would be deployed such as virtual reality/augmented reality (AR/VR), code scanner, data processor, product testing system, and Dynamics 365 live streaming application. This would be the first smart factory in Viet Nam that is automated based on the connection of 5G mobile services with the advantage of high speed, low latency, and support for multiple connections.
From the test results, Viettel Networks and Pegatron will complete the product package for 5G Private Network services for smart factories, including network equipment and related applications. At the same time, they will cooperate to develop 5G in both technology, terminal equipment, research and production with the goal of promoting the process of 5G popularisation in Viet Nam.
Tao Duc Thang, chairman and general director of Viettel Group, said: “Viettel has mastered the core technologies of 5G, and will always promote the application of technology to better serve life. The 5G technology create an outstanding advantage in the industrial environment. It opens up a new development space for telecoms when connecting things, not just connecting people.”
Currently, Viettel is one of six network operators in the world that both provide telecommunications services and manufacture network infrastructure equipment. Viettel has also successfully tested 5G for individual customers in Viet Nam since 2020. The 5G Private Network service helps firms complete the service ecosystem, opening a new era with a series of applications to use 5G in the near future.
Pegatron specialises in research and production of electronic and telecoms equipment from Taiwan, with a staff of 150,000 people, revenue of US$44.3 billion in 2022. In Viet Nam, it has two factories in Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park and Dinh Vu Economic Zone in Hai Phong with an investment of $1 billion. — VNS
