Vietnamese people will have citrus fruits imported from Uruguay very soon as the commercial agreement between two countries has been approved, according to Ambassador Portell Casanova María Del Rosario.

“On behalf of the Uruguayan embassy, I must say that it’s an honour to be part of this achievement, after having worked closely and in harmony with the authorities of Viet Nam, especially the Department of Plant Protection,” she said at a reception on Saturday.

“International inclusion, certification programmes, research and development, and social sustainability are the foundations of Uruguay’s citrus production.”

Oranges, mandarins, lemons and grapefruits have been exported to the US, the Netherlands, the Russian Federation, Spain, Brazil and the United Kingdom and now Viet Nam. — VNS
