Global logistics provider UPS has announced the appointment of Squall Wang as its new managing director for Viet Nam.
A 17-year UPS veteran who specialises in developing digital growth strategies for small businesses, Wang will oversee all aspects of the company’s small package operations and customer growth and retention strategy.
“With a series of ambitious and strategically important trade agreements in place, and a rapidly developing and modernising logistics infrastructure, Vietnamese businesses are well-positioned to capitalise on the cross-border opportunities that exist as the world looks to life beyond the pandemic,” he said.
“In 2020 we introduced new flights in Ha Noi and HCM to offer our customers the capacity, global access and peace of mind they are telling us they need, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to build on these investments and to show small business owners in Vietnam what UPS can do to help them achieve their global growth ambitions.”
Wang has held a number of positions across the Asia Pacific region, most recently as district controller for UPS China where he leveraged the country’s fast adoption of electronic payment platforms and pioneered the integration of electronic payment solutions into the UPS network, laying the foundations for cashless payments.
“Squall has extensive experience helping small businesses develop their digital and e-commerce strategies, and a proven ability to deliver customer-centric growth,” Michelle Ho, president of UPS Asia Pacific, said.
“At UPS, we pride ourselves on providing our people with the opportunities to grow and develop their careers, and after working with Squall for the best part of two decades, I’ve seen for myself why he is the perfect choice to lead us in what is an exciting time both for UPS and business owners in Viet Nam.” — VNS
