Orsted Group from Denmark and T&T Group have proposed an offshore wind power development in central Ninh Thuan Province, according to local authorities.
Deputy Chairman Phan Tan Canh met the two firms recently, talking about the two projects of Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 in the waters of Thuan Nam District.
The Investor Consortium from T&T and Orsted calculated the Ninh Thuan 1 offshore wind farm with a capacity of 3,000 MW will be built in three phases of investment from 2029 to 2033, with 150 turbines and a 20 MW tower, with a total investment of VND223.4 trillion (US$9.7 million).
They also said the farm of Ninh Thuan 2, with a capacity of 2,000 MW, is expected to be deployed after 2030, with 100 turbines, implemented in two phases from 2030 to 2037 at a total investment of about VND157.5 trillion.
They proposed to supplement the wind power development planning off the coast of Ninh Thuan, asking the province to let them carry out surveys on the project's proposed sea area, as well as measure and monitor topography, geology and wind, and conduct a project feasibility study.
Deputy Chairman of Ninh Thuan People's Committee acknowledged the proposals of the investor consortium and pledged to support and create conditions for the project to be implemented when the central ministries and branches agree on the implementation policy, the province also noted offshore wind power projects in the province had not been added to the Power Plan VIII, so they needed to propose the projects to MoIT first.
Orsted was a leading corporation in the field of offshore wind power owned by the Danish Government. In 2020, this Group's revenue reached $8.6 billion, and profit reached $3 billion, while, as one of the leading private economic groups in the country, T&T Group was operating in many industries and making a mark in the field of energy development.
