Hoa Nang, a start-up producing organic goods, launched the Champa organic sugar in HCM City on Wednesday.
The product meets EU and US standards, the company said.
Lam Anh Tu, its director, said organic products are a new trend in many countries including Viet Nam and Hoa Nang is positioned to meet the increasing demand.
Champa is 100 per cent made from sugarcane grown in Sekong Province in Laos’ Boloven Highlands, an area untouched by chemicals.
It is blessed with a moderate climate and fertile basalt soil, which are ideal for completely organic cultivation.
Hoa Nang took part in start-up reality show Shark Tank Vietnam in 2018 and managed to get the support of Louis Nguyen, a judge on the show and chairman and CEO of Saigon Asset Management.
The company first produced organic rice, which is now distributed through 210 retail shops in HCM City.
It also sold online on e-commerce platforms like Tiki, Lazada, Shopee, and Sendo.
It has been shipped to the US through Amazon, Walmart, Ebay, Google Shopping, Etsy, and Rakuten.
Hoa Nang organises training for farmers in Thanh Phu District, Ben Tre Province, and also focuses on developing supply sources for other organic products like milk, meat and aquatic creatures. — VNS
