Standard Chartered Bank in collaboration with Dear Our Community (DOC) and BritCham has launched the “Sustainability Incubator with Youth” programme, with the presence of The Rt Hon Graham Stuart MP, Minister of State for Energy Security and Net Zero as part of his first official trip to Việt Nam.
At the event, the bank announced the sponsorship for “Sustainability Incubator with Youth” programme to support the young workforce with practical knowledge about ESG and Sustainability that contribute to Việt Nam’s green future.
Through the sponsorship, Standard Chartered will offer financial and expertise support to the youth that inspires and empowers them to become sustainability leaders. Looking to the future, the youth are the key agents of change for a more sustainable future. With passion, creativity, and potential, they are believed to make a difference in addressing the complex challenges that the world faces today. In Việt Nam, Standard Chartered has been supporting various initiatives that contribute to the country's green transition, such as financing renewable energy projects, promoting green finance products, and raising awareness on climate change and sustainability among our clients, employees and communities.
“At Standard Chartered, our commitment to investing in the communities that we operate is unwavering. Our bank has committed to Net zero and is dedicated to making sustainable changes and facilitating just transition with the Government and private sector. The programme curated by Dear Our Community is to empower the future leaders and grassroots of Việt Nam and help accelerate progress. We are excited to be part of the inaugural program and will want to continue our support for multiple years,” said Michele Wee, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam.
“People are key to the development of sustainable business. Vietnamese employers struggle to find employees who are qualified to implement their sustainability goals. Dear Our Community created the Sustainability Incubator with Youth to provide young people with the knowledge, skills and experience that employers need as they transition to sustainable business models,” said Võ Ngọc Tuyền, Founder & CEO of Dear Our Community.
The “Sustainability Incubator with Youth” programme created by Dear Our Community will provide the youth foundational tools, and opportunities to learn, practise and promote sustainability. It also empowers and equips Vietnamese young leaders with the knowledge, resources, and network to effectively communicate the complexity of sustainability to their peers at workplaces and to aid in the green transition.
“Sustainability and Education are key pillars for BritCham Việt Nam so I am honoured to partner with the Dear Our Community for this launching ceremony, and very pleased to see one of our prominent members Standard Chartered Bank Việt Nam sponsoring a particular initiative. As the UK celebrates 50 years of diplomatic relations with Việt Nam, there can be no better way to do so than by looking at the next 50 years, and what we can do to help the young generation maximise the opportunity they have,” said Matt Ryland, Executive Director, BritCham Việt Nam. — VNS
