Schindler Vietnam this week opened an elevator components manufacturing plant at the Hiep Phuoc Industrial Zone in HCM City’s Nha Be District.

The US$8 million, 10,000sq.m plant will become the Swiss company’s manufacturing hub for Southeast Asia in future.

At the opening ceremony, the company said the plant is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, including robotic welding machines, a Bystronic laser cutting machine from Switzerland, a Wagner powder coating line from Germany, CNC machines from US, and a Growell shot blasting machine from Thailand.

It would triple the company’s production capacity in the country in the next five years, helping it meet the needs of big markets such as the US, Australia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, it said.

Duong Quy Suu, Director of Schindler’s Vietnam Factory, said: "Schindler hopes to expand the elevator market here to meet the big demand from domestic and international customers.

With high-quality products and strict production lines controlled by the Government and the group’s regulations, Schindler's new factory will open up opportunities for Vietnam's elevator industry to achieve new heights … [and] a leading position in the world.”

The factory is energy-efficient with a design that optimises natural light and wind, minimises waste and applies strict procedures to hazardous waste treatment and chemical substances.

Schindler came to Viet Nam in 1996, building its first factory at the Binh Chieu Industrial Zone in the city’s Thu Duc District in 1998 for producing components such as frames and lift beams for the domestic market and export. – VNS
