Debit card holders from Russian banks can use Viet Nam's BIDV (Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam) POS and withdraw cash from VRB (Vietnam Russia Joint Venture Bank) ATM machines from now on.
During an intergovernmental meeting between Viet Nam and Russia on October 29, the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) and their Russian counterpart, the National Payment Card System, officially completed their systems' technical connection for transactions. The two sides also signed a number of co-operation agreements.
BIDV and VRB are the first among NAPAS' system to join the scheme.
NPSK is the operator of MIR National Payment System, a national payment system established by the Central Bank of Russia. The system has a transaction network covering more than 130,000 ATMs and 2.6 million POS.
NAPAS's network covers 18,800 ATM and 263,000 POS within Viet Nam. — VNS
