Samsung Viet Nam's leadership visited six Vietnamese enterprises as part of a consultancy programme led by Samsung's South Korean experts on Thursday.
The companies involved were Fitek Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Hanoi Plastic Joint Stock Company and An Trung Industries Company Limited from the north, and Lidovit Trading and Industrial Joint Stock Company, Ton Dong A Joint Stock Company and Phuong Yen Company Limited from the south.
The assessment was part of a 12-week Samsung programme to support Vietnamese enterprises involved in its component and accessory supply chain.
South Korean experts have surveyed and assessed businesses over the course of two weeks and then worked with them for the next 10 weeks to improve the production process to comply with standards for Samsung's factories in Viet Nam.
“After consulting sessions, witnessing companies implementing numerous improvements to enhance labour productivity, reduce inventories and improve the working environment, I truly appreciate the initiative, willingness and determination to change of Vietnamese businesses,” said Choi Joo Ho, president of Samsung Electronics Viet Nam.
"This is also motivation for us to continue promoting and making appropriate adjustments to bring more efficiency to the programme in 2020. Samsung Viet Nam has always committed to accompanying the Vietnamese Government towards the goal of effectively developing the supporting industry," he added.
In order to expand the efficiency of the programme at more Vietnamese enterprises, Samsung and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have completed a training course for 207 Vietnamese consultants last month.
After completing the course, Vietnamese consultants were selected by the ministry to support quality improvements in production for Vietnamese enterprises in the fields of manufacturing, processing and the supporting industry.
This project, chaired by the Centre for Industrial Development Support, is expected to be completed by the end of this year with the goal of offering consultancy for 62 Vietnamese enterprises. — VNS
