Vietnam Airlines and FPT Telecom on Wednesday inked an agreement to allow passengers on domestic flights access to entertainment on the FPT Play app.

The app will be operational from December 20. Passengers need to install the app FPT Play on their smartphone or tablet, then enter their reservation code to enjoy special entertainment programmes from 24 hours before departure until six hours after landing.

Passengers can also download their favourite shows for free to watch on the flights. The app covers nearly 600 entertainment items including movies from Hollywood, Europea and Asia, as well as television programmes.

Deputy CEO of Vietnam Airlines Trinh Ngoc Thanh said the number of customers aged 20 to 35 using Vietnam Airlines products and services is growing rapidly. This is an age group with an understanding of technology, online buying practices and a preference for self-discovery, exploration and experience, he said.

“To meet the increasing expectations and requirements of this group of customers and Vietnam Airlines customers in general, we have pioneered the application of modern, highly practical technologies to innovate and enhance experiences of passengers such as wireless entertainment system on the Airbus A321neo fleet, internet services on Airbus A350 aircraft, and the upcoming FPT Play app," Thanh said. — VNS
