Saigon Co.op, the owner of co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food and other retail chains, has increased its inventory by more than 40 per cent compared to normal days to meet demand amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
It has stocked up on rice, instant noodles, cooking oils, spices, bottled water, canned foods, sausages, spring rolls, meat floss, fruits and vegetables, cleaning products and others.
Saigon Co.op also plans to supply localities hit by the disease in a safe manner.
It has been entrusted with the task of supplying food and other essential items to quarantines in HCM City.
Every day Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets provide more than 10,000 meals from a menu of more than 60 dishes that include noodles, pasta, rice, and vegetarian dishes.
Saigon Co.op has set up field kitchens near quarantines and field hospitals in Cu Chi, Thu Duc, Nha Be, and Can Gio districts to quickly meet the needs of inmates.
It also supplies daily necessities to them such as toilet paper, toothpaste and shampoo.
Its Co.opmart and Co.opXtra stores have supplied goods to temporarily quarantined areas such as apartment buildings where authorities identified cases of infection.
Wherever Saigon Co.op has stores, it has supported farmers, the retailer said.
Following the Government’s direction to prevent people from congregating, Saigon Co.op has strengthened online sales services via its HTV Co.op TV shopping channel and sales via phone, delivering products to customers’ home. — VNS
