Lavie, Nestlé give water, food to people suffering from drought, saltwater intrusion

La Vie Co., Ltd. and Nestle Vietnam plan to donate bottled water and other essential products worth nearly VND1 billion (US$42,564) to people seriously affected by drought and saltwater intrusion in Ben Tre, Long An and Tien Giang provinces.

Nearly 110,000 liters of water worth nearly VND600 million ($25,538) will be donated to households in Ba Tri, Giong Trom and Mo Cay Nam districts and Ben Tre city in Ben Tre, and Tan Tru and Can Giuoc districts in Long An.

Nestle plans to offer food and beverages worth VND400 million to people in Ben Tre and Tien Giang.

Around 5,000 families, most of them disadvantaged, have benefited so far, and the companies plan to expand the programme.

Besides, to mark World Water Day (March 22), the two companies are also carrying out activities to help people understand the importance of water to join hands in managing water resources in a sustainable a way to mitigate the impacts of climate change. — VNS
