Nguyen Anh Duc, general director of Saigon Co.op, has been elected president of the Association of Vietnam Retailers.

Since joining the retail industry in 2006 at Saigon Co.op, he has held many important positions.

In March 2020 he became general director of Saigon Co.op, the country’s leading consumer goods retailer.

He is credited with a number of initiatives that have contributed to Saigon Co.op’s development, especially in terms of improving operations and setting up joint ventures to develop new modern retail models of international standards.

The retailer has over 800 Co.opmart supermarkets besides Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.op Smile, Cheers 24h, Sense City, and SC Vivo City outlets covering all retail segments and with total revenues of over VND33 trillion (US$1.4 billion) last year.

He is also an active member of the HCM City Union of Business Associations and the Association of Vietnam Retailers, and is invited to speak at many prestigious business forums organised by local and foreign organisations.

Commenting on his appointment, Duc said he would use his intensive experience to drive the retail sector forward, and seek to enhance ties between the association’s members.

The association was established to gather retailers to leverage their combined strengths and grow the industry in Viet Nam. — VNS
