The world’s largest renewable energy group, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), has signed a cooperation contract with a joint venture of PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PVS) to implement the Fengmiao offshore wind power project in Taiwan (China) with a scale of up to 600 MW.

The joint venture is Semco Maritime - PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C), of which PTSC M&C is a subsidiary of PVS. Semco Maritime - PTSC M&C was selected as the preferred supplier for the offshore transformer station of the Fengmiao project.

The project is expected to start construction in 2025 and finish in 2027, with a total design capacity of 500-600 MW. This is considered one of the largest offshore wind power projects in Asia.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Stuart Livesey, CEO of Copenhagen Offshore Partners Việt Nam and representative of CIP in Việt Nam, emphasised the dedication of Semco Maritime-PTSC M&C in providing high-quality offshore transformer stations to the international market.

“This signing is just a fraction of offshore wind energy's potential to benefit Việt Nam's supply chain, employment, and human resource quality,” he added.

This is also considered a foundation for CIP to expand global cooperation by including PTSC M&C in the list of potential suppliers for projects in Taiwan (China), Japan, and other markets.

Last November, CIP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Semco Maritime - PTSC M&C joint venture on the design, procurement, and construction of offshore transformer stations for offshore wind power projects in Việt Nam, developing markets in Asia and internationally. — VNS
