A new daily flight between Da Nang and Taipei has been launched.
Taiwan's StarLux Airlines will fly a 188-seater Airbus A321 Neo from the central city to Taipei with one-way flights costing as low as US$32.
The airline said the flights were one of three new routes launched on Thursday including flights between Taipei and Macau and Penang.
The flights from Da Nang will depart daily at 10am. Evening flights from the central city will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 6.35pm.
It opened ticket sale for the Da Nang-Taipei flight on website (www.starlux-airlines.com) and other applications from Wednesday.
President of StarLux Airlines, K.W. Chang said: “We eventually launched the daily direct flight today offering passengers a high quality service after a three years of preparation.”
Low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific launched three direct flights a week between Da Nang and Kaohsiung, Taiwan – its second air route between the city and Taiwan after the first Da Nang-Taipei was opened with five flights per week in 2016 – from last August.
The central city sees 35 international air routes with 496 flights per week, while 10 domestic routes add 662 flights in a week.
Da Nang hosted 8.7 million tourists, of which 3.5 million were foreigners last yar.
South Korean and Chinese visitors were the largest with 54 per cent of total foreign tourists visiting Da Nang.
About 58,000 travellers from Taiwan visited Da Nang last year, a 2.2 per cent of total foreign tourists visiting the city in 2019.
Da Nang is seen as an entrance gate to UNESCO-recognised world heritage sites in central Viet Nam including Hoi An ancient town, My Son Sanctuary in Quang Nam; Hue Monuments Complex; Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and Son Doong Cave in Quang Binh Province. — VNS
