National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has launched a direct route between the central coastal city of Da Nang and Shanghai, making it the carrier’s 19th route linking Viet Nam and China.

Besides connecting the two large cities, the new route opens opportunities for passengers to visit destinations in both nations.

Vietnam Airlines is currently offering round-trip airfares starting from US$227 on the route until January 31 for travel from January 19 to March 28, 2020.

As the most livable city in Viet Nam, Da Nang has attracted millions of domestic and foreign visitors thanks to its stunning landscapes and excellent tourism products.

Meanwhile, Shanghai is an economic hub of China. Its ancient and modern architectures, together with vibrant shopping and entertainment activities, have made it a popular tourist destination.

China is one of two leading outbound markets for Da Nang's tourism beside to South Korea. Last year, the number of Chinese visitors to Da Nang accounted for 22 per cent of the total while that of South Korea made up 56.4 per cent of the total, according to the city's Department of Tourism.— VNS
