Mondelez Kinh Do (MKD) has launched "Joy Schools", a nutrient education programme on November 22 aimed at promoting balanced nutrition and an active lifestyle for school children in Hung Yen Province.
The initiative is part of Mondelez International’s programme in Southeast Asia that focuses on three core pillars -- nutrition education, active lifestyle and access to fresh food.
“Mondelez International has introduced the ‘Joy Schools’ programme in most Southeast Asian countries to improve the quality of life of students and support local communities,” Stephane Gripon, managing director of Mondelez Kinh Do, said.
"We believe "Joy Schools" will help students gain better understanding of proper nutrition, have access to fresh food and enjoy physical activity for their wellbeing. With this balance between learning and enjoyable moments, every day at school will be joyful,” Ban Yen Nhan Town No.1 Primary School principal Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung said.

The programme will carry out a series of meaningful activities during the 2017-2018 school year, with the goal of enhancing nutrition education, promoting physical activity and guiding the students on how to access fresh food.
These activities include hosting a Nutrition Day to share the importance of breakfast and nutrition education for students, health checkup and BMI calculation sessions, upgrade of playgrounds to encourage physical exercise and the building of an indoor mushroom garden for students to have better access to fresh food.
"Joy Schools" is part of Mondelez International’s CSR programme to build a learning environment and help students maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Started in 2011, the programme has reached nearly 11,500 students in 25 schools in the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and now Việt Nam. Following the launch in Hung Yen Province, Mondelez Kinh Do will extend the programme in two schools in Binh Duong Province next year. — VNS
