Manulife is giving each of its 35,000 employees around the world the spending equivalent of fifty Canadian dollars in their local currency to ‘pay it forward’ and create acts of kindness in their local communities this holiday season.
It will encourage them to give gifts or make donations to individuals and organisations in their communities. Contributions can also be pooled with other colleagues.
Employees will be encouraged to share their stories of support on social media using #ManulifeActofKindness. All posts and stories will be shared on www.manulife.com/actofkindness.
“We believe that our success as a Company depends on the success of the communities we serve,” Manulife president and chief executive officer Roy Gori said.
The Manulife Vietnam management visited the Angels orphanage in HCM City’s District 9 and spent time interacting with the children and donated over VND26 million (US$1,124) worth of toys and educational gifts.
In response to COVID-19, Manulife has made donations of nearly CA$5 million.
Manulife Vietnam contributed more than VND3.4 billion ($146,971) worth of much needed medical supplies to frontline workers.
