Lenovo to double R&D investment

Global technology company Lenovo Corporation has recently announced it will double research and development (R&D) investment in the medium term.

Without revealing the exact investment for R&D in Viet Nam, Lenovo did confirm that the country has remained important to the company, and despite economic challenges, the company continues to increase investment in the market.

Of the R&D activities, the company has recently unveiled many new laptops in the Vietnamese market, including a 2023 lineup of premium and gaming devices.

From AI-powered enhancements to improvements toward overall sustainability, the eighth generation of Lenovo devices is packed with major upgrades from Gen 7 predecessors.

“We know that consumers are embracing the hybrid lifestyle to transform the way they live, work and play,” said Woraphot Thavornwan, director of consumer business in the central Asia Pacific region, Lenovo. “With customer centricity in mind, we are continuing our strong momentum to deliver more and more innovative devices with smarter technology to help consumers release their own unlimited creativity and experience anywhere, anytime.”

Lenovo laptops include the Yoga Book 9i, the Yoga Pro 9i Gen 8 and the Yoga 9i Gen 8.

Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is a new chapter for Yoga in incredible innovation, premium style, and performance for versatile experiences. The 13.3” Yoga Book 9i is the first full-sized OLED dual-screen laptop and comes with a unique set of capabilities designed to empower the creative to craft their own story.

Lenovo also introduced the new Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i, designed for a new generation of content creators.

“As the hybrid lifestyle continues to blur the lines between work and recreation, digital content creators are increasingly prioritising convenience and premium experiences from more multifaceted and personalized technology,” said Nguyen Van Giap, general manager, Lenovo Vietnam.

The new IdeaPad Pro 5i laptop is all about delivering enhanced performance that is designed for the mainstream user, including an increased thermal performance which allows for a cooler and quieter experience.

The product is expected to be available in June with the expected retail price from VND17 million (US$690). — VNS
