BEN TRE (Biz Hub) — The Ben Tre Import Export Joint Stock Company inaugurated and put into operation a factory manufacturing canned coconut milk in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre yesterday.
The factory, the largest of its kind in Viet Nam, covers a total area of 7.5 hectares in the Phong Nam small-scale industrial complexes in Giong Trom District. It cost over $20 million.
The mill has an annual capacity of 37 million litres, consuming about 200 million coconuts in the province a year.
Up to 90 percents of its products are expected to be exported to North America, Europe, and several countries in North Africa and Asia.
Ben Tre is the country's largest coconut cultivation locality. having 63,000 hectares generating 500 million coconuts each year. — VNS
