German chemical company BASF on October 6 broke ground on a school renovation project at Kim Dong Primary School in Hau Giang Province’s Phung Hiep District.

The project, which is also supported by the non-governmental organisation Saigon Children’s Charity CIO, offers one new classroom, one toilet block and one playground with a total area of 357 square metres.

When completed next year, it will bring a cleaner, safer and a more comfortable learning environment to more than 90 schoolchildren.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, a total of 300 pairs of shoes were presented to all students at the Kim Dong Primary School.

“BASF supports local communities through a variety of programmes, including this school renovation, to provide a healthy learning environment for schoolchildren,” said Erick Contreras, managing director of BASF Vietnam.

“With this project, we are also thrilled to celebrate the fifth school we have renovated with our partners, showing our long-term commitment to support Viet Nam’s sustainable development,” Contreras said. — VNS
