GreenFeed Viet Nam JSC on Thursday put into operation its eighth animal feed plant, worth US$20 million, in the southern province of Vinh Long.
Covering 5ha in Binh Minh Industrial Zone, the new plant has a designed production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of animal feed annually. Initially in the first phrase, the plant will provide 200,000 tonnes of products each year.
The new plant is launched as part of GreenFeed Viet Nam’s plan to improve its production capacities and offer farmers in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta region a sufficient source of animal feed at affordable prices, the company said.
Besides six plants in Vinh Long, Long An, Dong Nai, Binh Dinh, Ha Nam and Hung Yen , the company has two others in Cambodia and Myanmar.
The domestic animal feed industry maintained two-digit growth in the past two decades, with the output jumping from 400,000 tonnes in 1993 to more than 23 million tonnes in 2016.
Viet Nam is today the leading country in ASEAN and the 10th in the world in animal feed production. — VNS
