An additional five community cultural houses for ethnic minorities will be built under the “Steps for the Community” programme carried out by Sacombank in collaboration with the Viet Nam Youth Federation this year.
Launched in 2020 on a national scale, the annual online walking/running programme aims to promote physical training and the volunteer spirit among Sacombank employees and youth nationwide to take care of ethnic minority communities in Viet Nam and to preserve traditional cultural values.
The programme this year will run from March to November and consist of five stages, with the first stage (the ninth stage since the social programme was initiated) starting last week in Lang Son Province.
This stage is open to anyone, does not specify a distance, and participants can walk or run.
Participants nationwide can register to join in this stage via sacombankrunnersclub.com or Sacombank Runners app. The registration portal is open and will record results until the end of March 26.
The ninth stage is expected to reach at least one million km of walk/run, which is equivalent to a contribution of VND1 billion (US$42,285) that will be used to build a community cultural house for the Bo Y ethnic minority in Ha Giang Province.
The previous eight stages of the programme have attracted more than 42,000 people participating, contributing more than 5.1 million km of walk/run to raise funds for building community houses for the Chut, Lo Lo, La Ha, Pa Then, Co Lao, Mang, Lu and La Hu ethnic minorities in Quang Binh, Cao Bang, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang and Lai Chau. — VNS
