Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., through its subsidiaries in Vietnam - UNIQLO Vietnam and Fast Retailing Vietnam, has announced it will donate VND11 billion (US$478,000) to the country’s COVID-19 Vaccine Fund.

The donation will help the fund to purchase vaccines as well as research, development and production of domestically-produced vaccines.

“We are glad to be part of a united effort in Viet Nam to overcome COVID-19. We believe that through the collective efforts of every individual, enterprise and organisation in the country, we will beat COVID-19 together,” said Osamu Ikezoe, General Director and Chief Operating Officer of UNIQLO Vietnam.

In addition, Fast Retailing, in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and Hope Foundation, will also donate more than 30,000 UNIQLO AIRism and DRY-EX products to frontline healthcare workers and volunteers. AIRism and DRY-EX products both contain proprietary fabric technology to ensure frontline workers and volunteers stay comfortable.

Established on June 5, the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund is an initiative of Vietnamese Government to mobilise resources for the fight against the pandemic. Viet Nam plans to vaccinate at least 70 per cent of the country’s population to achieve herd immunity by April 2022. As of July 15, the fund has received more than VND8.1 trillion from 447,925 individuals, enterprises and organisations. — VNS
