Son La Province People’s Committee and Dong Giao Foodstuff Export JSC on Friday inaugurated Doveco Son La complex, a major fruit and vegetable processing factory in the northern province, after nearly three years of construction.

The VND400 billion (US$17 million) complex applies a closed processing system from production and purchase of raw materials, fine and deep processing, to domestic selling and exporting with total capacity of 52,000 tonnes of products per year.

The machinery systems use the modern technology from Italy, Japan and China, according to Doveco Chairman Dinh Cao Khue

Khue said the factory prioritise consumption of local ingredients like mango, corn, longan, spinach, vegetable soybeans and other vegetables to ensure a sustainable output market from the province as well as the northwest region.

The complex will offer thousands of jobs to local workers. It also creates a close-knit network of farmers, agricultural cooperatives and suppliers, creating a long-term vertical link that will maintain the province's agricultural commodity consumption.

At the event, Doveco signed a cooperation agreement with four cooperatives to supply raw materials for the factory and four export partners. — VNS
