French sports brand, Decathlon, will open its first mega store in Viet Nam at Vincom Mega Mall Royal City, Ha Noi on April 27.

The store would offer a completely different shopping experience with exhibitions and a live experience space. With an area of 4,300sq.m, this store provides over 14,000 products ranging from equipment and tools to sports clothing and shoes for more than 70 different sports.

Decathlon customers can experience their products for sports such as hiking, jogging, gym fitness, basketball, football and cycling right in the store with the support of trained professional staff. Decathlon also provides some very technical sports such as fishing, horse riding and stand-up paddle that cannot be found easily in other stores in Viet Nam.

Decathlon was built and developed according to an integrated business model. Consequently, all processes from designing, preparing materials to production and distribution are exclusively done by the Decathlon team.

Since their first appearance in the market in 1976 in Lille, France, Decathlon already owns a chain of retail stores as well as a number of exclusive brands. It now owns 1,513 stores in 53 countries, providing a variety of items to bring the most exclusive experience to sportsmen and women.

In Viet Nam, apart from the online sales site launched in 2017, Decathlon will open two mega stores in Ha Noi in April and in HCM City with a scale of over 2,600sq.m estimated to be completed by the end of May this year.

Lionel Adenot – Decathlon Viet Nam country leader, said: “We aim to bring the joy and benefits of sports to many Vietnamese people in a sustainable way, creating a positive footprint in Viet Nam 'Sport for all, all for sport'. We want to widely spread this spirit.”

Decathlon started its production in Viet Nam in 1995. A team of more than 400 people, work with around 100 factories in the country to manufacture and ship 10 million products to stores all over the world. In 2017, Decathlon started distributing products in Viet Nam via e-commerce. — VNS
