Budget carrier AirAsia officially launched daily flight between the central city of Da Nang and Chiang Mai, Thailand in promoting connection between Southeast Asia destinations and central Viet Nam on April 12.
Representatives of Thai AirAsia said Da Nang-Chiang Mai new air route were one of current five flights from Bangkok, Thailand to Ha Noi, HCM City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Chiang Mai-Ha Noi and Chiang Mai-Da Nang.
Flights will depart from Da Nang on 10.15am and from Chiang Mai at 8am everyday, and it takes one hour and 45 minutes.
AirAsia offered one-way promotion ticket price of $46 with booking from April 12-21 for flights on September 30.
AirAsia already has a Bangkok-Da Nang route with three flights per week, and a Da Nang-Kuala Lumpur route with two flights per week.
According to the city’s airport authority, Thai Vietjet, Bangkok Airways and AirAsia were currently operating 63 direct flights between Da Nang and Thailand per week.
Nearly 60,000 tourists from Thailand visited in Da Nang in the first quarter this year, a 35.7 per cent increase in comparison with the same period last year.
The new Da Nang-Chiang Mai route would offer more chances for tourists travelling between Viet Nam’s central region and Chiang Mai’s destinations.
Da Nang, which is situated at the end of the East-West Economic Corridor – linking Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Viet Nam, had 23 daily direct flights carrying 2.35 million tourists in 2018.
The city welcomed 7.6 million tourists last year, including 2.87 million foreigners, earning more than US$1.06 billion in revenue. — VNS
