Japan-owned Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has received the 2017 Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award in the Social Empowerment category for its achievements in social and responsible entrepreneurship during the past 10 years.

Dai-ichi was the only life insurer in Viet Nam to win the awards given away by Enterprise Asia in Bangkok.

The company has initiated various community and CSR initiatives including the establishment of its CSR Foundation “For a Better Life.”

Its “Million bricks for a happy life” has come in for particular praise. Under this project, the company donated VND1 billion and co-ordinated with local authorities to build 10 concrete bridges in rural areas in many provinces to facilitate daily transport, especially for children, during the flood season.

In the past decade Dai-ichi has contributed more than VND19 billion (US$837,000) to charity and community projects like providing eye surgeries for poor people, clean drinking water to needy schools, scholarships and warm jackets to students, and relief to flood victims in the central region.

Takashi Fujii, chairman of Dai-ichi Life International Asia Pacific and chairman of Dai-ichi Life Vietnam, said: “Throughout ten years in pursuit of becoming a premier life insurer, we are consistently committed to our mission of bringing a better life for Vietnamese people.” — VNS
